S0 if you’re thinking about a project feel free to phone me at 631-659-3007 or click abuilds@optonline.net and email me and we can start to talk about your project and what you might have in mind.
Initial Consultation – The initial consultation is free of charge and I am more than willing to use my 30+ years of on the job design/building in helping you put this project in motion. It helps tremendously if you are prepared with any sketches, photographs from magazine or blueprints etc. that you migh have so that we can make the most of our meeting when we sit down to discuss your project. That way we can quickly move towards getting ourselves on the same page. It is most helpful to all of us in having a visual and well thought out understanding of what you see in the project at hand.
Project details - Whether it’s a tile project or a hardwood floor it will be most helpful in knowing most of the details such as the type of tiles or wood specie, and what stays and what goes in order to give you an apples for apples estimate. This will only help you rather than confuse you when the estimates you gather come in for your attention.
Budget – Do you have one? There are many ways a project can come into play, just as there are many different materials of the same nature yet of different qualities. Some lesser expensive materials are not necessarily inferior but simply different. We need to know how to proceed. If your budget doesn’t allow you to order custom cherry door and window casing to match your new cherry cabinets there are many suggestions I can make such as ordering the same stains and bringing stock lumber yard moldings in to match closely. There are many solutions to all projects for all budgets. It just helps and saves time to have and approximate budget in mind so we don’t waste any time on elements that don’t fit in your program.
Estimates and proposals – Estimates are free of charge but an estimate is just that. It may not be an exact figure and will not have every single detail included. All that takes enormous amounts of effort and time especially on larger projects. That’s what proposals are for.
Proposals – are basically contracts ready to sign. Once we have most all the details worked out I will bring a proposal/contract for you to go over which will be more in depth as to all we’ve previously discussed.
Are you ready? – If the proposal meets your expectations all parties concerned will sign our written agreement and find a date that suits us all.
What you as the home owner will need to do is have the site ready for construction depending on what project is at hand.
Work hours – We normally work Monday through Friday anywhere from
8-9 a.m until 5-6 p.m.
We can arrange odd hours if need be but need some notice prior as will do the same for you.
I take only one job on at a time so you will have my undivided attention until project completion.
Payment schedule and change orders – My normal payment schedule is 1/3 payment upon start, 1/3 midway and the final 1/3 upon completion. This too can be discussed prior.
I know it is common to add and remove portions of the project and all changes will be discussed and then put in writing to be signed by both parties prior to commencement, We need to keep things clear so no misunderstanding pursue.
Looking forward to talking to you soon ,
Andy Clifford
